The Ringing Bell (For Short Story Slam Week 23)

In a movie I watch,
I hear the ringing of the monastery bell,
In the veil of cloudy night,
The sound echoes among orchards on hills,
The first dew glitters on a fresh leaf,
As the tones of the bell rain,
from reverberating
to deeply sharp,
Until they finally halt, under July strife,
The bondage and vanity of the world
appear clear to see,
But, in the space that's limitless,
Who knows what constitute truth:
and how reality and daydreams work
together so that we're free from death?
